I first heard about Alexander Zass a few years back. Being in the fitness industry, I have learned a lot of different techniques for increasing strength, building muscle and burning fat. Yet the story of Alexander Zass BLEW ME AWAY!

Actually, it was his shocking way he escaped from prison that made me almost jump out of my chair. You see, Alexander Zass was a soldier in World War I. During the war he was captured by Austrian forces. They put him in a cell that had metal bars. At the time, Zass had become a well known strongman (although he wasn’t puffy or “too big” like today’s modern strongmen). When they put him in prison, he knew that the bars couldn’t hold him. He escaped 3 times from that Austrian jail by bending the bars enough so that he could slip between them. Each time they had caught him... until the third time when he finally escaped out of the country. The last time they even shackled him and tied a chain around his body... but it couldn’t stop him. He busted out of it like Superman.

He was not an overly large man but had built up tremendous strength. As a younger man he performed in the circus and amazed audiences by catching a 200lb (90kg) cannon ball shot out of a cannon, carried a piano on his back and broke shackles with ease.

Fitness Lie 1: You Need To Lift Heavy Weights To Build Strength

Western fitness is very narrow minded. They believe that weights are the “end-all-be-all” system for increasing overall strength. Its simply a lie.

Alexander rarely used weights and in fact built super human strength from a young age when he had no money for weights or any equipment. He used the resistance of his own body to increase his strength so much he even won a local strength contest. He challenged the local “strongman” and beat him by performing feats such as bending thick metal rods and breaking heavy chains.

You don’t need weights to get stronger. Building a muscular physique comes from one thing... resistance. Even resistance that comes from your own body.

Fitness Lie 2: You Need A Membership To An Expensive Gym

Local health clubs and gyms want you to believe that you need to have access to all the latest fancy equipment in order to get a muscular physique. Their advertisements claim that they have “free weights”, “ellipticals”, “machines”, “treadmills” and so much more. Seriously, you think you need all that stuff? Really, its just a distraction. Can you seriously see an old-school Russian strongman gliding smoothly on an elliptical? LOL! Yeah, right?!

Think of it this way. Gyms are trying to tailor to the mass market… people that like to yap their jaw by the water cooler or sit naked in the hot tub (yeah, it happens every day across thousands of locker rooms). The gym needs to recoup their cost by charging you MORE… whether you use all the equipment or not. Its like you are paying for people you don't know to use equipment you've never used! What a waste!

Alexander Zass had no gym. He lived on a farm and used his own body. That’s all you need. Give up the wasteful, fancy-pants gym membership in trade for a system that instantly increases strength.

Fitness Lie 3: You Need To Workout For Long Periods of Time

Many years ago, I was a member of a local YMCA. Frequently, I saw the same guys when I got there... AND when I left the gym. I think they spent more time checking out hot girls or looking at their artificially-inflated muscles in the mirror than they actually worked out. They believed that workouts must be long.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. You don’t need to waste your precious time sitting in a gym doing endless repetitions. Alexander Zass style workouts (ones that build strength faster than anything you’ve ever seen) can be done in short periods of time… often 20-30 minutes a day a few times each week.

Isn’t that great?! You get the benefits of strength and physique in less time than most people spend even driving to the gym.

Fitness Lie 4: You Need To Have Good Genes To Get Fit & Strong

You might have heard fitness “gurus” talk about how genetics create certain body styles. Most commonly they call these body styles “mesomorph”, “ectomorph” and “endomorph”. They say that mesomorph people have a much easier time building muscle. In essence, they were born with “good genes”.

Now, I am not saying that genes don’t have anything to do with how quickly your strength improves and how quickly you can build a muscular physique.

Sure, there is a seed of truth to it. However, bad genes can be quickly overcome by the right training method. And we need to look no further than Alexander Zass again. He was XXXXX and XXXX.

Yes, as you can tell from this picture, he developed tremendous strength, power and an attractive physical body. Don’t believe the lie that you are doomed to be weak, skinny and in poor health just because you were dealt the wrong genetic hand. The right training system can quickly give you an amazing physique and functional strength.

Now I’d like to share with you the exact method Russian strongman Alexander Zass used to building astounding strength.

How Russian Alexander Zass Used The “Tri-Isometric Method” For Maximum Strength Development

Alexander Zass used a system of exercise called “Isometrics” (where you exert tension from your muscle without moving it). He was not a huge guy. Yet could perform feats of strength that modern strongmen still can’t reproduce.

Zass used a unique series of isometric exercises called the Tri-Isometric Method. Now, at the time, Zass didn’t call his method anything other than isometrics. But as I researched his ancient Russian strength manual I realized that he had combined 3 very different types of isometrics that lead to his profound strength.

The SECRET To Alexander’s Method of Building Muscle With Isometrics Was Combining All 3 Methods of Isometric Contraction...

Isometric Method 1: Static Contraction

The first type of isometrics that Alexander Zass used was Static Contraction. Here's how yo do it. Lift your arms up and flex your biceps as hard as you can. Come on… flex harder. Great! You just did Static Contraction!

When doing this form of isometric you contract the muscle in space. The joint does not move but you give the muscle a good ‘ol squeeze. In the program, I’ll teach you how to recruit the maximum amount of muscle fibers in a muscle group so you tear muscle tissue without ever moving the muscle. Pretty neat, huh?

Isometrics Method 2: Yielding Contraction

The second type of isometric that Alexander used was the Yielding contraction. Here's just one example. Put your hands in a “prayer” position. Squeeze your hands together as much as possible. Do you feel your chest muscles contract? Did that feel different than the Static Contraction?

Yielding Isometrics are where there is an opposing force pressing against your muscle. You resist the force but don’t allow your joint to move. Even if the force increases you hold your ground. This second type of Isometrics is great for developing strength and power.

Isometric Method 3: Overcoming Contraction

The third method of isometric contraction (and maybe the most powerful on its own) is the Overcoming Contraction. Here's an example. Face a wall and get into a low lunge position. Place your hands on the wall and push with all of your might. Come on… Try to push that wall over!

This is an example of Overcoming Isometrics and it challenges your muscles to a greater intensity because you are pushing an immovable object. There is no way for the object to move so you are able to exert all of your force and recruit every muscle fiber you have.

Science Now Proves It! You Can Increase Your Strength By 51% & Build Muscle Using Even Just ONE Of The 3 Methods Of Isometrics

Now, you might be like me… a little skeptical. Heck, I was very skeptical  that these methods really did produce this amazing strength. Also, I’m not Russian and although I’ve heard the tales of Russian strength its hard for me to believe a “secret” strength manual existed that has been collecting dust for over 200 years AND responsible for astounding feats of strength.

So I dove deep into the scientific literature to uncover if the claims really were really true.

After reviewing the studies of how athletes (and regular folks like you and me) gained strength… I found two studies that took all the skepticism away and taught me why Alexander Zass could build so much strength so quickly.

In 1984, there was a study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology that tested isometrics versus dynamic training (movement). The study compared the effects of three months of moderate, isometric or dynamic exercises on the contractile properties of a certain muscle. ("Contractile properties" essentially means the amount of strength or force that the muscle can produce.) After the study had ended, the researchers found that both groups increased their muscle power but the isometrics group had a 51% increase compared to a 19% increase after doing dynamic exercises!!! That's a HUGE difference!

What about Muscle? Can Isometrics Build Muscle?

In 1987, a study released in the Journal of Physiology showed that Isometrics not only affected strength but also size. The experiment also tested the results of isometric versus dynamic strength training. Researchers had the subjects perform a certain isometrics training program.

After the study was done, the researchers found two amazing results. The subjects increased the amount of muscular force (think strength and power) by 45% AND had a 5% growth in cross-sectional area of the muscle. This means that the exercises produced amazing gains in strength but also resulted in increased muscle mass.

This is great news for anyone looking to build a muscular physique that is also functionally strong.

Why Does It Work??? (The Science Behind Isometrics)

You might be wondering, Isometrics sound amazing but how does it actually work? In order to understand it, you have to dive into a concept known as Maximal Voluntary Contraction. This is the greatest amount of tension a muscle can generate and hold for a certain period of time.

Your muscle is made up of many muscle fibers. See the image on the right. Normally, when you perform a certain movement you only use a few of these fibers. For example, when you pick up a glass of water from the table you recruit just a few fibers in your bicep (among other muscles) in order to perform the movement. Yet, if you were to pick up a bowling ball, your body would recruit even more muscle fibers to accomplish the movement.

When you do isometrics… especially the 3 different, unique methods of isometrics that you learned about above you recruit ALL of your muscle fibers. This is “Maximal Voluntary Contraction”. Think of it as a method of telling your body that it NEEDS to have all the fibers firing. When you do this… ALL of the fibers end up getting stronger… instead of just a certain number like with many traditional workout programs.

That’s how Alexander Zass was able to build up enough strength to bend medal bars and escape from prison. Over time, he continued to tell his muscles that they needed to produce more and more force… finally, they were able to perform amazing feats of strength.

I Knew I Had To Share This Ancient Strength System With The World...

After uncovering these secret Russian strength methods I knew it was time to tell the world about it. I decided to create an entire system that the average man and woman could use to develop strength that would help them in every day real life.

After all, most people don't need to break chains and bend metal bars to escape from prison. They need to increase their strength so that their body is healthy and able to function with maximal ability even into older age.

Finally, I let the "cat out of the bag" on this powerful method of strength building and created a system based on Alexander's principles that anyone could follow (no matter what their time constraints were). I call this system "Isometrics Strength".

Yes! There are numerous studies that show at least a 5% increase in cross-sectional area after performing an isometrics program. Cross-sectional area means the girth or “wideness” of a certain body part. The amount of strength in your muscles have also been proven to increase tremendously, even when compared to concentric and eccentric workout regimens.
